PSI Passport Series
This innovative suite of programmes offers a variety of initiatives, some delivered by PSI staff and others intended to be delivered by in-house staff, by providing them with personal development and an invaluable set of user-friendly resources for use with their learners.
PSI Passport Suite
The PSI Passport series includes a number of programmes dedicated to the development of the individual. Each of the PSI Passport programmes conceives of individual development as a journey taking account of where individuals are starting from, how they arrived at their starting point, and where they intend to travel to. It also takes account of changing final destinations as individuals broaden their personal horizons.
Each programme within the PSI Passport suite tests the realism of individuals' perceptions before and during the journey through learning. The current range is outlined below.
PSI Passport to Advanced Communication
In examining organisational failures, most of the time a communications breakdown can be cited as the route cause. Where communications are good, most other obstacles can be overcome.
Effective communication is central to both organisational and personal success. The effectiveness of overall communications within an organisation are totally dependent upon the effectiveness of the individuals within that organisation. This programme considers personal communication effectiveness within the context of the organisation.
PSI Passport to Mentoring
During their lives many people are involved in mentoring others. The support may be specific as in the case of particular work place development or classroom development, or it may be more general for those who need support to help them through life or work events. Passport to Mentoring is designed to allow 'mentors' to be more effective in their role as a result of formal and structured training.
As with all Passport Programmes the theme of travel is woven throughout
the modules. Participants are encouraged to think of all development
as a journey that will lead them to greater effectiveness in their chosen
field and that by gaining this Passport their role as mentors will be
enhanced.
The Module titles are:
Module 1 About me!
Allows the participants to investigate their own behavioural patterns and gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their capabilities and potential.
Module 2 About others
Explores how and why other people react to situations in the way they do.
Module 3 Working Together
Explores interactions between individuals in the support situation
Module 4 Planning for the Future
Develops the participants’ expertise in a range of various instruments with proven track records in personal development.
PSI Passport to Work
This programme is intended to prepare individuals for entry or re-entry into the world of work by significantly improving their employability skills.
Human resource specialists agree that the concept of a job for life is now out-dated. For individuals to survive in the job market there is a need to move away from the idea of employment security towards the idea of employability security. It is for this reason that the PSI Passport to Work programme concentrates on employability rather than a particular field of employment.
This is a modular programme (usually delivered in ten days) based on employment needs identified through research with employers. It therefore directly addresses employer preferences in the selection and promotion of staff. The programme is particularly suited to the Employment Service funded 'Gateway to Work' provision and is now widely used in this context. It is also used by organisations providing job search skills or employability preparation in a number of other training contexts. The design of the programme takes full account of differing literacy and numeracy skills and is well suited to individual learners who do not have English as a first language.
PSI Passport to Life
This Programme is intended to increase awareness of social and political issues and to develop personal aspirations and personal effectiveness in a spirit of citizenship. The programme is equally suited to young people and older learners with different levels of activity for all.
The resource provides learners with an individual route to good citizenship. This modular programme takes account of the learner as an individual in the local, national and international context.
Within schools, the flexible modular design of the programme makes it suitable for inclusion within PSHE / PSE or as a full-time or part-time provision in an alternative curriculum programme. It provides a non-intrusive link to all other aspects of the regular curriculum. A considerable level of ICT development can be integrated into this programme depending on the local context.
PSI Passport to the Future
This is an employee development programme intended to meet employer requirements for effective and efficient workplace activities.
Research with employers has indicated that a number of key features are considered important in employees. This employee development programme is intended to maximise performance.
The design of the programme takes full account of differing literacy
and numeracy skills and is well suited to individual learners who do
not have English as a first language. This modular programme is designed

3. Teamwork
